Message	at the height of the center of the tires. If you're good with math, you can know if it's off. This only works if it's way off, of course, but it's quick and cheap. It could be your eyes, or it could be typical sub-standard work. Just because the car drives straight with the steering wheel centered, does not mean your tires are safe.
